Lighting for the Moving Image.

With recent leaps camera technology, including the RED and Canon 5D MkII, many people have expressed an interest in lighting for the moving image.

We are holding a series of courses on the equipment and techniques used within the motion picture industry.
The first one day class will illustrate the use and application of various film lighting fixtures and how to ‘light’ within a budget.

The schedule of the day will include the following:
-Electrical safety on set
-Introduction, power and practical consideration
-The types of lighting fixtures used in the industry
-The application of the fixtures
-Styles of lighting, high key, low key
-The use of hard light and soft light
-Controlling and shaping light
-The use of correction and diffusion filter
-Practical and hands on demonstrations
-Q and A throughout the day

Those wishing to improve their knowledge about lighting or planning their own film or video productions will find the day instructive. Many of the lighting techniques can equally be applied to the stills industry.
The course will be led by Ashley Palin who has considerable experience in the film lighting industry on a variety of productions from music videos, BFI short films, commercials and major feature films.
A small class (10 places) combined with a no nonsense and fun approach will ensure that you have an informative and entertaining day.
